Why FairProcess HR was founded

FairProcess HR was founded on a simple observation: most small businesses are managing their people without any professional HR support — not because they don't see the value in it, but because traditional HR consultancy has never been built with them in mind.

Large HR firms charge rates that only corporates can afford. Employment solicitors are necessary in a crisis but expensive and inaccessible for day-to-day guidance. HR software platforms offer self-service tools but provide no genuine expertise. And in-house HR Managers are out of reach for any business with fewer than 50 employees.

The result is that thousands of small business owners across the UK are dealing with disciplinary issues, grievances, and performance problems on their own — often without the right documentation, without following the correct process, and without any understanding of the legal risk they are carrying.

FairProcess HR exists to change that.

The Founder

The founder of FairProcess HR is a qualified HR Business Partner with over 15 years of experience working in Human Resources across a range of sectors. That experience spans the full breadth of HR practice: employee relations, HR operations, policy development, organisational change, workplace investigations, disciplinary and grievance proceedings, performance management, absence management, and employment documentation.

Throughout that career, the most consistent observation has been the gap between the HR support available to large organisations and the support accessible to smaller ones. The employment law obligations facing a business with 10 employees are largely the same as those facing a business with 1,000 — but the resources available to them are not even close to comparable.

FairProcess HR was established to bridge that gap. Operating as a side consultancy during evenings and weekends, it is designed specifically to serve small businesses, start-ups, family-owned businesses and growing SMEs — delivering the same quality of HR expertise that larger organisations take for granted, at a price point that actually makes sense for a small business budget.

The Approach

The FairProcess HR approach is grounded in three principles that give the business its name and its tagline.

Fair. Every workplace situation deserves to be handled with fairness — to the employee and to the employer. Good HR practice is not about finding clever ways to get a particular outcome; it is about ensuring that the right process is followed and that everyone involved is treated with respect and dignity.

Practical. HR advice needs to be actionable. The advice you receive from FairProcess HR is clear, direct and commercially grounded. There is no value in guidance that is theoretically correct but practically unusable. Every recommendation is made with a real understanding of what it means to run a small business.

Compliant. UK employment law is complex and changes regularly. Staying compliant matters — not just because of the risk of tribunal claims, but because compliant businesses are fair businesses. All documentation and advice provided by FairProcess HR is grounded in current UK employment legislation and aligned with ACAS guidance.
